Split Ends :(

Help! Save My Dreads

My hair has always been super dry .. even before I started my dreads.
My dreads are beginning to mature and I don't think I should wait any longer ....
I'm aware that split ends move up the hair shaft . How bad will this affect my locks ?
Should I trim my tips as soon as possible ? I don't want to buy any special moisturizing products :/
Or should I just leave them ... I really don't know what to do ..

When people tell you how to maintain your hair

General Talk

Haha ! I get you ! lol
It does bug me too, I try to explain to them.. but if they don't want to listen,
then it's not my problem. Regardless, It's MY hair, I'll do what I want and I
won't let it get to me. After all, dreads are like a filter, they help identify the ones who
are open minded from the ones who are ignorant.

Dreadlock extensions?

Dread Accessories

Give it some time (: I thought about getting extensions too ..
but lets face it, It's going to be extra work, and extensions can be pricey.
They can also probably cause damage if you're planning to crochet them in.
Just stick it out, and give it another year or 2... I guarantee they'll look much fuller and longer (:
Let nature take it's course and let them do their thing.

crochet dreads recovery Need help and advise

General Questions

It's simple (: !
Loose hair is normal ...but maybe some of it can be caused my crocheting.
It rips hair and it caused them to stick out .
I've had dreads 3 times .. yes 3 !! lol first year, I crocheted them a lot !
and i noticed the damage it caused when I brushed them out ..
but these set of dreads I have now .. I back combed them, and stopped
crocheting .. and they locked up faster ! Believe it or not :p It's like magic haha !
I suggest you stay away from crocheting and wax ..and just let nature take its course (:
They'll come along, you just have to give it some time :)

Annoying!

General Talk

I've had dreads on and off for the past 3 or 4 years ...(now they're here to stay for good)
I love my locks, I do it because I believe in living a natural life style, I do it for the journey, it's a way to free myself from society's idea of beauty,I do it because I think they're beautiful..I've never felt so free !

I've always been so insecure... but since I've had dreads, it, in a
way, was a conversation starter, I've made new friends.. I think it's somewhat amusing
getting looks of curiosity here and there by strangers.

About two years ago, I dated this guy for a while...and he completely hated my locks :(
and how stupid of me ... i got rid of them for him. (it was a little too late to realize how messed up that was...but got my dreads back as soon as I left him)
And still today ! I have guys telling me, I would look more beautiful without my locks..
IT'S VERY VERY ANNOYING .

Sometimes it gets to me.. I don't feel so confident .. but I KNOW for a fact,
I will not get rid of my locks what so ever, especially for a guy... a guy that doesn't like me for who
I am. Regardless, looks shouldn't matter but my dreads are a part of me.

And when they put me down.. I sit and think. Think about how my
dreads reveal the ugly in other people. I get judged.. I'm not accepted..I get disrespected..
and at the end of the day.. I shrug it off. My dreads are like a filter, it helps me detect the ones who are
kind and open-minded ...and detect the ones who judge me for my appearance rather than whats inside - the type of negative people, I shouldn't surround myself with.

Just had to get it off my chest..

thick locks ? help

Introduce Yourself

Ive had dreads for about 7 months... still babies but theyre tightening up pretty quick ..
I have a bunch of loose hair :p in all i have maybe no more than 35 dreads

I backcombed starting from the bottom ..and tried to evenly section them
by the time I got to the top of my head, I gave up and randomly took hair and backcombed them
but ... now I kind of regret it,the dreads are thin .. b/c I didnt want the back of my head to look scalpy ..
and I love the look of thick dreads.. what should I do ?
let some congo to thicken ? or comb out the top and resection them ?

any suggestions ?

Washing locks

Introduce Yourself

I wash my locks every 5 days, because I'm pretty active and my hair just gets unbearably itchy in a week. How do I stop that ? I want to be able to wash my locks once, every two weeks.
Is it something my scalp will just eventually get used to? I use BS & ACV wash, sometimes this vegan shampoo ..
