Welcome Moon Raven. I started mine at 40. I'm 41 now and my dreads will be a year old in 3 days. Here's to older dreadies throwing caution to the wind and living life our way...suddenly I have Sinatra on the brain haha!
Thanks so much Laura. 8)

Congrats! I too am a newbie, but have always loved dreads. I'm 43 and about a week into my journey. Good Luck!
Isn't that the truth! From what I've learned my dreads will just keep getting better & better.
I'm beginning to understand why some say having dreads is a journey, I just wish I would have started sooner.

Welcome Moon, thanks for the intro. I too started later in life and am so happy that I did. So glad you found the site so that you can keep them nice and healthy. At our ages, we will keep them for life, so this is the best site to learn how.......peace
Since I was 20 yrs.old I've wanted dreads and finally at 54 yrs. old I have started on the dread journey!
My husband, of 25 yrs., loves the look & says its time he grew out his hair for dreads too.
My dreads are 7 days old, I started them by back combing & have learned from this site & soaring eagle the wrong shampoo... wish I had found this forum before, live & learn right.
I look forward to meeting everyone & learning from all who care to share their knowledge & experiences.
Blessings,
Moon Raven.
Kerry, my hair is at that crazy wild stage too. lol
When anyone comes over, that doesn't understand dreads, I put my hair up. It looks like a messy up do in back and one of my long scarfs framing my face, but like it suppose to be that way.
I've gotten quite a few complements on the style.
So glad you posted your knowledge Barrellady! I read this a couple of times for the recipes & just to make sure my baby dreads are b'have'n.
Blessings,
Moon Raven
