General Questions

Hey thanks a lot Barrellady!

soaring eagle said:

u can use it every 3 days and if yoir oily skip the acv for a week or 2 you'll make your hair less acidic therefore less oily

once it shifts from oily to dry slowly add acv in a very weak state

Help me with my oily hair!

General Questions

Hello again everybody! Thanks for the answers and replies to my last questions, it really helped a lot and I'm LOVING my journey so far, even though I'm only 1 week in I can already feel a difference, mentally. Although, I have had one concern of late...

I have always had naturally oily or "greasy" hair. For as long as I can remember, I will shower at night, and wake up with oily hair! It's never bothered me too much, as in the past I have just slicked it back into kind of a greaser pompadour. I am concerned, however, that it will affect my dreadlocking process, and I do need to keep somewhat presentable at least at work, as I work in customer service. My job is very physically demanding, as I am outside every single day working in the heat, and of course, I get very sweaty throughout the day. I take a shower on a daily basis, so as not to smell like the bottom side of a silver back gorilla while working and living.

The questions this all boils down to are these:

1. Are there any methods I can attempt to make my hair a little less greasy?

2. I have purchased Pink Himalayan Sea Salt Spray, from dreadlockshampoo.com. I was wondering how frequently I should use it? I recall seeing somebody ask a similar question when I first started visiting this site, and soaring eagle replied to there question stating that you should really only use it as often as the average person goes swimming in the ocean, so I presume maybe 1 a week or so, but I was wondering, since I have very greasy hair, would it be okay to use it as often as I do the baking soda and ACV cleanse (about every 3 days, sometimes 2)?

Thank you for your time, and I hope that you can help me out a lot! Lots of love friends!

Neglect Dreads Help

General Questions

Thanks a lot for the replies guys, it's greatly appreciated. I love having access to others who already know of the journey so that I can ask questions all I want. Nobody in the area I live seems to have real natural dreads, they all have them locked or crocheted, so if I ask them they only know of their own methods.

Neglect Dreads Help

General Questions

Hey I just started my dread journey a few days ago and I have a few questions that I can't seem to find the answer for yet:

- Can I wear a cap during the beginning stages of my dreading? If so, how often is too often? I'm only 4 days in, but I need to wear a beanie or a bandanna while i'm at work, out of respect for my boss.

- I shower every day, should I put a shower cap on my head to keep it from getting wet? I've just been letting it get wet the past few nights, but I haven't been touching it with my hands at all or anything and I let it air dry after each shower.

- Is it better for me to just use the baking soda method? I'm not sure that I can use the dread lock shampoo correctly, as I'm not sure how to wash JUST my scalp without tampering with the dreads?
