how to ash young dreads and question about about dreadlocks shampoo

Dread Products

so do you think I should stick with BS? or is shampoo fine although its not a no touch thing?

You might want to show your mom the difference in price between shampoo and a large box of baking soda. There's nothing less expensive than the baking soda method. If you have a store like Costco around, you can get a huge box of it and gallon jugs of ACV for just a couple dollars.

Okay so I've used both the BS/ACV and the Lockin Up Liquid Shampoo on my not yet knotted up hair. The baking soda seems to help the dreadlocks form better but I figure this is because it's also drying and damaging my hair quite a bit. It also feels like no matter how much I rinse, the baking soda is still in there. My hair comes unsectioned with the shampoo in these early stages. This is probably because it's not a no touch method so until I've got some firm knots in there I'm stuck with the BS.

Thomas above me is right about why the shampoo doesn't lather like you'd expect. Most shampoos contain sodium laureth sulfate, a detergent which causes the lather but is potentially toxic and not necessary for cleaning. It's difficult to get used to the idea that lack of foam can still clean but it can.

baking soda and acv are too expensive?

are you living in north korea?

bs and acv are incredibly cheap to wash with

unless your buying tiny cobtainers everytime u wash

but ok

1 why do u need lather? do you know the lathering agent in most shampoos cause cancer?

2 just wash gently theres no reason to be rough on them or to wash twice jusr get em clean

3 any of the liquids are good whatever scent u like

how to ash young dreads and question about about dreadlocks shampoo

Dread Products

so my dread are about 2 months old and they are startring to survive the harsh water hitting them every wash. but to get good lather i need to

1. wash twice

2. be hard on my dreads. harder then i want to be

i cant use bc and acv because my mom says its too expensive so i got me a shampoo. the shampoo does clean and is residue free but it doesnt encourage the dreading process so im inking about switching to the dreadlocks shampoo liquid shampoo.

so my questions are:

1. is there a way i can get more lather with out washing twice?

2.is there i way i can get more lather without being to hard on my dreads?

3.what areyour experiances with the dreadlocks shampoo? whch one do you recomend?

also i want my hair to be dry because i think that encoureges the hair to lock. if my thoughts are wron what would you recomend which will help my hair o dread?

thanks alot!

Another summer comes o an end...

General Talk

THIS IS NOT DREAD RELATED! another summer comes to an end and its been so productive for me. ive learned so much about myself and grew as a humanbeing! first of all i started my dreads. not knowing why I started them, after my first month a found a good reason so thats a plus i think. ive started my dreads to learn how to be patient and be in peace with me because i knew id get alot of bad comments and so i have.i've learnt to take all the crtisizm like a man and agree that not everyone has to like me.

secondly, we rented this house in Bodrum, a highly touristical place in Turkey popular by both the Turks and Europians. there.i met a girl names Basak (spike blossom is the name translated in to english). we got closer and closer and the last 6 days we started dating. she was a different girl, not so beautiful but attractive to me. the reason why she was different was because she didnt react like any other girl i know let say when I hold her hand. although she liked me too she pulled her hand away when i tried to hold it away. i learned later that she didnt like to be physical (not in a sexual way, just physical like me holding her hand). this was good for me because i learned how to act around people like her.

i didnt know she wasnt in to being physical so i thought she didnt like me the way i liked her so i became a bit depressed but finaly had the guts to pull her away from our group of friends and talk to her without and barriers. I asked her if she liked me or not and when she said she did i asked her why we werent dating. long story short she told me that there were things she didnt like about me, for example my jelousey. i promised her that i could change for her because i belived that every relationship is an oportunity to grow as a person (ofcourse when the thing you are changing is a bad trait of yours). in the end i did change. i became more relaxed and calm. so the second thing i learnt was talking with some one openly and as true as possible. also ive learnt to take responsability for someone or something.

ive made great friends and a lovely girlfriend. although we arnt dating now because we are in diffrent cities, i go to see her from time to time and we've agreed to continue our relationship from where it left off as soon as she and i have the time to do so.

so this summer has been awsome for me! ive met new people, i started my dreads and found a reason to do so.

i want to learn about your summer too! how was it? and changes you have found within your self after this3 month time period?

thanks if you read all the way through, and if you havent still thank you :)!

Smelly hair

General Questions

I don't sleep with damp hair*

Hi there. After 3 weeks of the neglect method, you would not have smelly hair washing it 2-3 times a weeks, even four. Since it is not locked up, it would dry properly. Did not read anywhere if you are going to bed with a wet head? Or wearing a hat with a wet head? If you are not doing either one, then it could be your diet, what you are eating. Especially if you just changed your eating habits. I once had a friend that took garlic pills daily, and ended up smelling like garlic up close. Sometimes when a person changes their eating habits, the toxins start to sweat out of the body.......Just a thought......

Smelly hair

General Questions

Haha well I guess everyone smells differently :D I changed the way I wash mine today. Instead of 25 I washed for 20 mins. Also instead of massaging my scalp I washed my itching my scalp maybe a bit too hard. And also rinsed at least twice as long. My mom says I don't smell like anything now! Yay!

At around 4 weeks, my hair started smelling distinctly like a wet dog after I would wash it! I use dreadlock shampoo bars and even tea tree and peppermint EOs. I don't have a dog and I still don't know why my hair smelled like that. It went away after about a month. I am guessing it was some weird thing my scalp was going through, adjusting to the new washing routine. But wet dog? It was pretty nasty, lol. I am guessing if you keep washing regularly with your shampoo bars and rinsing with water and EO, the smelliness will pass.
