My Crazy Journey

Dreadlock Picture Gallery

3 months - SCARY

4 months - EVEN SCARIER.jpg

1 year 2 months - Finally getting somewhere

1 year 2 months - really beginning to enjoy them now.jpg

I've been on a mental crazy ride for the past 14 months, and many many times i thought i was doing it completely wrong, but these most recent photos tell a different story and the only thing i need now is a little length, but i've learnt the art of patience. My mum said she would have been in the hairdressers months and months ago telling them to chop it off, but i persevered and wore lots of slouchy beanies, hid the crazy nest stages and i have never been more proud of my crowning glory than i feel right now, and that's still with a long way to go.

I've never used any products, except dreadlockshampoo.com and my hair has never been healthier!

Can't wait till the next year, thanks SE for all your amazing advice, couldnt have done it without you! x

If anyone is interested, i do have more photo's on my phone taken with the thoughts of perhaps putting a timeline up, and am happy to put them up if anyone wants to see them.

Catch up soon.

Dan :) xx

Bit worried about my progress - some advice or reassurance required :/

Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support

PHEW!!.....Thanks guys, makes me feel loads better, i was starting to feel like a bit of weirdo and that it was all going horribly wrong and i was the only person in the world to have a head full of dreadballs rather than dreadlocks and feeling a little like bjork haha.

I do already use the awesome dreadlockshampoo and can't recommend it highly enough, it makes my head feel very clean and i never (touchwood) get the dreaded itchy head. I guess soon enough i'mna have to give the old deep clean avb/bc thingy wash a go, and that'll be my next step.

The hats i wear are all woolly tam like hats, so i'm sure that helps me with locking, but i will defo be giving the buffwear a whirl!!

Thanks again guys for making me feel normal again :)

Bit worried about my progress - some advice or reassurance required :/

Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support

So it's been nearly 6 months and most of my dreads have knotted up, theres only about 7/8 in the front that are on their way but not quite there. So i've had major shrinkage and none of mine actually looks like dreadlocks. They have just all knotted into balls like this:- some big and some small, and I have lots of loose hair. I've been looking at other people's progress and although most people go through the normal birdsnest stage that i was fully expecting, most of the timeline photos i;ve seen have looked like dreads, just a messier version of the final set.

I am happy to keep going and the hats are a mainstay of my crowning glory now, I just want to know if there is anyone else that has a similar story that can reassure me everything is ok.

Thanks so much,

Dan :)

Whoops....did I twist too much?

Dreading Methods

i wash em every other day, and they're quite tight :/

Tara C said:

Well, chances are they'll come loose when you first wash them, so no big deal. If they're too tight they won't really be able to dread, but when you wash them if they feel looser, leave them to it because that's how they dread :)

Whoops....did I twist too much?

Dreading Methods

So i put in my TnR's nearly two weeks ago, but i've just read that you twist to every 10 rips?! I literally did what it says on the tin - twist and rip, twist and rip, twist and rip. They took me over 12 hours to do overally and they're fairly tight. I was happy until i read that - does this mean i might have to take em all out and start over or will they eventually dread?

Thanks,

Dan
