Lice!!

Introduce Yourself

My mom is a teacher at an elementary school and found out one of her students has lice really bad. The child has been going to school even though she still has lots of lice. Just to be safe, what can I do to prevent from getting lice? I have been using tea tree oil and lavender oil. I also use Rosemary and peppermint shampoo. Also, if I do get lice, what is the best treatment for dreads? I refuse to cut them off like my mom keeps suggesting (I think it's because she still doesn't like them). Thank you everyone!

Knotty Boy

Dreading Methods

A friend of mine wants to go to Canada to have someone professionally make her some dreads at a place called Knotty Boy. I have heard from a handful of people that their experiences ended badly. Does anyone have any opinions or personal experiences just so she can get a better idea on if this is where she wants to go?

Loose roots and grown out dreads

Dread Maintenance

So I'm not too concerned at the moment, but I am curious as to what you can do for your roots once your dreads start growing out. I'm basically doing nothing except for separating my dreads every once and awhile. I have mostly natural/ freeform but I also have lots of twist and rip on the bottom section of my hair. What will happen if I just continue to leave my roots alone?

My greatest decision in life :)

Introduce Yourself

My family reacted the same way with my dreadlocks. My dad even yelled at me because he said "he didn't like the path I was heading down" because of my dreads. And then everyone in my family assumed I was some pothead all of the sudden. It was awesome reading this, to know that there are other fellow dreadheads who have endured the same reactions. You're beautiful!
