Help! Save My Dreads

So I'm 14 and I'm a freshman In high school. I've had dreadlocks for about 7-8 months and my mom is making me cut them =(. So I started my dreads with the backcomb and crochet method but after I crocheted the first time I found out it was bad and stopped!!! But after about a week my hair all came out and started the process over all by its self and I feel in love with my new free formed dreads!! But now it's about the 7th month and my mom is making me cut them next month :'(. I asked her why and she keeps telling me because she don't like them and they look dirty and there ugly and all this. So me being in high school I can't do anything so would you guys please help me convince her to let me keep them! I would post pics but idk how to attach them to this! Please help! Love you all bye

No it's not mold or anything it's that dawn leaves no smell so like my hair over a day or two picks up just like a bunch of stuff (smell wise) and it just leaves this like old hair smell and I don't like it! Thank you for all the Replies!

Okay so I use dawn soap because I live in a little town and I'm the only one with dreadlocks here and I don't want to order shampoo because its to expensive! So that means it leaves me with no smelly good stuff in my dreads and I don't have essential oils and that goes the same for the shampoo thing and so is there any way i can make some oil or anything else I can use? Please help!

Thank you for the answer and no I'm not looking for anything special I just want a good shampoo that will keep my dreads smelling goods dirt free and healthy

So I have had dreadlocks for about 6 months now and for about 4 of those months I used the baking soda and acv rinse but I started using dawn instead because it was easier so is that bad? Do I need to stop? Please help

So I love the smell of coffee and I was wonder like people use tea in there dreads so maybe could I boil some coffee and then spray it in my dreads for smell good or would that be a bad idea?
