How to separate DREADS from the root? Help please :)

Dread Maintenance

I didn't see anything about this on the FAQs. If there is a topic already concerning this, please redirect me! :)

I have no problem dreading my hair, they are locking quite well.
However, my problem is with the roots! Many of my dreads are starting to lock together at the root. I should probably deal with this ASAP so they don't completely lock together.

But how should I deal with this? Separating them with my heads is quite painful and seems impossible. A friend said I should cut them in order to separate them. I don't like this idea very much!
I don't want them to be locked together to form huge dreads so is there anyway I can avoid this?

Please help :)

~ Much Love

So I researched a bit on this shampoo.. it looks mostly all natural! I will seriously consider this. Thanks again.

Thank you Nick Sig. I might try this shampoo you speak of. I do have minor problems with dandruff which annoys me sometimes... Although I am also worried about the residue. How are your dreads feeling after the wash?

Do you only use it on your scalp or your dreads too?? Just wondering what kind of residue build up it might leave. I've only had my dreads for about a month but I had dandruff issues before even doing them...I'd like to find something that will get rid of the dandruff but wont leave a residue build up

Using rosemary with baking soda and other oils helps with dandruff. Doesn't completely get rid of it of course. Maybe if used for long enough?
