I thought the point was to post your own picture, this way you're not "stealing" anyone's property.. makes sense to me.

And I'm glad the first one won, the third one is kind of odd lol:)

I have never heard of Jade & Pearl, nor have I heard that tampons can be risky. Hm. There's nothing wrong with pads either, seems safer than tampons. I switch it up, using tampons on nights out & such.

Rant: I miss my locs :( :(

Introduce Yourself

Hey lovely.

Aw, I understand that must be a sucky feeling.. but don't think that it's an end of theopportunityto continue dreading! You can try using Biotin supplement for your hair, which might help your hair become thicker & grow fuller. I've heard it works for a lot of people & I myself might try it out. After a few months of using it, you can try redreading your hair through neglect method. I'm sure by the time you know it, you'll have beautiful locs once again!

mom bugging me about my dreads

Introduce Yourself

I think it could definitely work as long as you continuously keep that portion combed.. I mean I always see people with their bangs straight & the rest dreaded. I don't see why this isn't possible with the top layer of your hair. If there is a will there's a way. You can def keep your dreads very tamed & presentable for your mother :)

mom bugging me about my dreads

Introduce Yourself

Greetings!

It's quite understandable that your mother is against dreads. They appear messy, dirty, & this might be a characteristic of the person: someone lazy.

Show her that thesecriticisms are wrong. Show her that you indeed do wash them every other day or so... Let her know that in fact dreads have to be taken care of even MORE than regular hair! Not only the care of dreads are important, but the spiritual reasons behind them.

If she is still against them and you do want to please her in some sense, you should realize that you don't have to necessarily dread your WHOLE hair! You can only dread the bottom part, and leave the very top layer straight & combed. This way your hair will look very tamed and presentable! This is what I do, I am probably not going to dread my whole head. Another way is to keep the dreads small, not big - this way they are lessnoticeable.

There are so many options out there. . . do what pleases you my dear.

How to separate DREADS from the root? Help please :)

Dread Maintenance

I didn't see anything about this on the FAQs. If there is a topic already concerning this, please redirect me! :)

I have no problem dreading my hair, they are locking quite well.
However, my problem is with the roots! Many of my dreads are starting to lock together at the root. I should probably deal with this ASAP so they don't completely lock together.

But how should I deal with this? Separating them with my hands is quite painful and seems impossible. A friend said I should cut them in order to separate them. I don't like this idea very much!
I don't want them to be locked together to form huge dreads so is there anyway I can avoid this?

Please help :)

Dread Maintenance

Thank you guys! This helped a lot. I also watched the video by the guy you mentioned.

I was a little worried that I let my hair go without separating it constantly; but I'm doing my best.
I don't think it's bad actually & definitely won't try cutting it... that would be so sad.

Thanks again ~
