who wants in on the debate

General Talk

It would be good if it were only SE and DreadsUK and there was a live message board/chatroom for the people watching that could be seen by both SE and DreadsUK and then we could have a fast and high quality video feed whilst still allowing people to weigh in/ask questions :) Looking forward to it :)

Why no touch?

Dread Maintenance

Yeah I got nothing against people doing it but it confuses me when the same people say they are 'rejecting vanity' by having dreads. It doesn't make your dreads any less valuable whether or not you care how they look but I think you should be comfortable admitting that you do care if you do. And dreads can be just as spiritual if they are waxy and crocheted every 10 minutes, its all in your views and reasoning behind it. If you can justify it to yourself then it doesn't matter what people say (when it comes to this, in other situations I think there are 'rights' and 'wrongs').

Yeah hearty firey man I didn't mean to come off as rude or anything it just you were hating cops without any substance or real reasoning.

Why no touch?

Dread Maintenance

I don't really get any people are so in favour of the no touch method when it comes to washing and drying locks, I understand that it may help you progress faster but if the point you're dreading is to let go of vanity or to be closer to the natural way of having hair then I think it's just really silly/vain/unnatural to treat your hair differently just for the sake of progress. if you really wanted natural hair or to not care how your hair looks then you'd just treat it like normal without combing? it's easier to wash and dry your hair if you scrub your scalp a little and use a towel (if you need it dried quick, otherwise I do prefer air drying because it's nicer). Not criticising just wondering, anyone want to tell me why?

the new dreadlockssite 3.0 just got more usable

General Talk

Is it possible to make it an option for each person? Like they can choose if they want friends only or everyone with a button on their profile or something? That would make it easier on you instead of changing everything every time someone has an issue.

Introduce Yourself

I didn't like a few of my flat locks at first but they've started to grow on me :D (see what I did there?)

Does rasta/rastas mean dreads?

General Talk

Ahhh got it, it makes a lot more sense that it means dreads in Spanish, but that still leaves a lot of either posers, or people who are just misinformed of why rastas have dreads or what it is to be rasta, thanks for that SE. Haha yeah ND true that :P

Does rasta/rastas mean dreads?

General Talk

Hey guys, so I was wondering if rasta or rastas mean dreads/locks/whatever in languages other than English, because I see a lot of photos of dreadlocks, ones that look extremely crocheted and some that are even synthetic and I see rasta or rasta in the photo tags which clearly makes no sense. So I'm not sure if this is just people *cough*whiterichteenagers*cough* pretending to be rasta just because they have dreads and smoke herb or if in some languages rasta/rastas means dreadlocks (which I do remember hearing something about)

Scraggly back of head dreads

General Questions

PS I would strongly advise against palm rolling, if you need the nitty gritty on why, just give baba fats a message :)

Scraggly back of head dreads

General Questions

I had lots of flat ones in the back and I still have a few but over time they round out but, is there any reason you want them to? I think having one or two makes it look much more natural and really good :) peace
