Oily hair. A road to a slow dreading process.

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

Vicki's shampoo is the best! I've been using it for a few weeks now and knots are forming all over. The best advice I have seen is to wait until the day after your hair gets oily to wash it. I used to wash my hair everyday, but since starting my journey I wash every third day without getting terribly oily. Good luck!

And by selling I mean falling.

Welcome :)I also started with the TnR method. After a week and a half they started selling out and I regretted it. I combed them out Monday and haven't looked back. Natural is the way to go.

BS/ACV

Dread Maintenance

Awesome. I usually get one good wash in a week with two short ones. I never let the acv sit and just rinse straight away. I'd only be able to skip the toilet if I had a jellyfish sting on my leg. Nice thinking though. Lol.

BS/ACV

Dread Maintenance

I use the bs/acv to cleanse/condition. I've read that the bs mixture should sit for 10-30 minutes. I do not alway have that long to let it sit seeing as I work until 6Am then back to work for 7. What is the minimum time it can sit?

Megan's Natural Journey :)

Member Journals and Timelines

Just added new pictures from a month! I will have to take more after my mop is clean and further along perhaps.

New pictures :) I have noticed that sections have started forming slowly. I think I even found a knot a few days ago, but he's hiding now.

Megan's Natural Journey :)

Member Journals and Timelines

So yesterday I decided that it was best for me to comb out my TnR locks and start natural. Since I decided that I wanted dreadlocks, I have also decided I want a simpler, healthier lifestyle all together. If I could I would be barefoot, wear only dresses, let my hair lock, cover myself in tattoos, and smoke my hookah all while living harmoniously with our Earth Mother. However, since I work 56 hours a week, I can't. So I will live as primarily as possible by controlling what I put into my body and learning patience and how to let go by embarking on this natural journey.

Here is my freshly washed, uncombed hair :)
(Posting from a tablet so it's attached)

Two weeks of not combing. I have also been using the Lockin' Up Liquid shampoo for a week now.

It's now been a little over a month since I comber out my TnR dreads and started natural. My hair is pretty much all sectioned and now I/m just waiting for more knots!

I call this knot Audrey 2 because it wants to suck up EVERYTHING around it! She is definitely forming the quickest.

This is the only other knot I can fish out of this craziness right now.

General Questions

After reading then re-reading SE's post, I decided to start over. It only took an hour by soaking in conditioner and running my fingers through. It's important at for me to dread naturally, but for a reason I can't articulate. I just feel the NEED to. Now as I watch my life and body change, I can watch my hair change as well. Thanks for all the replies loves :)
