Various questions on obtaning and maintaning dreadlocks

Dreading Methods

Be 100% sure that this is what you want and never look back. Just go with it. If you want them to be stylish it will not be an easy beginning. There will be a lot of redoing. No wax and no back combing . Hair locks up naturally for everyone. Even if you must just go to a salon to section your hair, if you use rubber bands do not keep them in. They are temporary.

Sounds like that's prob the problem. I started using the acv rinse and the essential oils and baking soda, worked wonders. I'm still flaking a bit but I think it was leftovers. I love it already and only used it once. I love it!!!

Flat dreads

General Questions

I too have a few flat ones. I have been dreading for about 2 months now and as they tighten you have to be sure to squeeze them on the edges that are flat and they will shape. Palm roll a little. I don't recommend palm rolling because it alters the natural loom of them, but they will tighten and should fall straight as they grow

How to cope with all the negativity?

Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support

I have to agree with mons. As long as you like them, that's All that matters. I tried to do them myself a few years back and they didn't turn out how I wanted them. So I took them out. I am reattempting them with the love and support of my lovely boyfriend who also has dreads. And I had a rough time in he first month but they are starting to tighten. Stay positive and irie. I started of with the rubber bands because my first attempt and the reason I combed them out is because my roots started to dread together and I didn't want them big. But I just rinsed with the oils and acv and they are looking great. Just believe in what you are doing and if you would never cut them then just like jazzy momma said, deflect the statements and f them all! ;)
