Hi Seph,
Yeah, crazy was meant to be positive! Anyone who looks different in any way gets negativity. And even the people who try to look exactly the same as everyone else will still get bitchiness (to them, or behind their back), because they're perceived as more or less attractive than other people. Mad, isn't it? Seems like everyone is wrong to everyone else! Or people just enjoy being nasty...
I'm amazed at the separation and curl definition your beard got after just 2 weeks! And it's separated at least half way up the length. That's fast! I'm surprised how many sections you have, too. On the underneath photo, it looks like 9. Would you keep them apart, or let some congo?
My beard grows kinda similar, curly like yours. The only photo I could find was this old ID card from 1996:
(Sorry about the psycho stare. I don't take a very good picture. You should see it if I try to smile - ugh!)

Funny Barrellady mentioned vanity, coz I'll probably look at least 10 years older if I grow it (I was only 21 in that picture). Dunno how I feel about that. But like the song says "I am as vain as I allow".

maybe u can just grow it out for some time until its long enough. then keep the underchin shaving everything else. section it in 2 or 3 and bead them... and as ginger said i do the same as her husband too. i just take scissors and cut the random hair that comes in the way rather than going for the complete line.

Interesting.
For my first beard (the big one), I hadn't shaved for a week or so (just being lazy) and my friend (who had a long beard himself) said "that'll grow". So I left it. And it did! Didn't really get much negativity, in fact I even had a part time job as a receptionist in those days :) The funny thing was that when I shaved it off, the skin under it was dead white, compared to the skin around my eyes that had been in the sun.
The next one was a tiny little under chin one that I started for a Jack Sparrow pirate fancy dress costume. It wasn't long enough, so I had to sew in little extensions for the plaits. But after the party, I kept just the underchin part and had a tiny rattail beard plait for a good few months. That was fun.
Might go for it, see what happens. If I let it dread, I might get less 'ZZ Top' comments than the first time lol

i didnt really have any special reason for growing it. i had decided to not shave before my exams gets over(superstition maybe, cos i just feel more confident and calm with the facial hair). i always had a small stubble kinda beard cos i feel 'clothed' by it. certainly this was the longest that i havent shaved but i normally feel good when i have some beard on.

i actually realised that my beard has grown a lil more than normal only 3 months back. and now that its grown i dont feel like cutting it. its become a part of me and i love it. people look, some stare, some raise eyebrows but its their opinion and they are free to have 1. its all cool and i respect all of them.

i dont really have beard dreads except for a few twists towards the ends. its more prominently visible when i wash it. but its sure doing a few things on its own. more length will be better. its personal decision to grow a beard n i will suggest u do what u really want to. SE im sure will be glad to have a lil brother :P

dude its completely a personal choice. be ready n prepared for more judgemental people. if u want it u'll have it. n yes its same like head hair. u dont comb it tangles... in fact beard is often always more coarse than ur head hair so it tends to dread faster.

eating... noodles can be a problem.. :P u have to take extra care of the chin hair and moustache while eating. just wash it everyday and keep the skin underneath happy and nourished. dont section do nothing. patience always is the best tonic. it might get really itchy. mine used to itch like crazy but now im using a sandalwood soap that seems to be working well n the itches are gone.

i have a beard since the last year around n i do trim my upper lip hair cos it really does come in the way while eating. convenience matters most for me. its a man's choice to grow a beard just like a woman would keep her armpit hair. happy dreading bro.

thick locks ? help

Introduce Yourself

Hi, i am with you ... i like the thick locks too.. :P I dont think you should comb out or resection or do anything... Easiest would be to let a few of them congo on their own.. Separate the rest.... :)
