What can i do to my hair to keep it away from my face

Introduce Yourself

I rock a headband pretty much everday cuz i cant see without it. My hear blocks my eyes now that its gaining length. I hate it. You can also try out parting your hair in differnet ways, and you can try braiding or twisting the locs together off to the side and around the ear. I have been trying some new things.. our hair looks pretty similar in length. I cant pull mineback yet. It sucks, cant wait to be able to make them lay backwards.

Dreads getting skinnier and skinnier. HELP PLZ!

Help! Save My Dreads

Why didnt you like the BS.acv wash?? ive had bad experience with build up using other types of shampoo save for neutrogena anti residue, which is only good when used sparingly. Its a harsh soap.

Pics could help, I would imagine that if you have stopped twisting them up, they will recover on their own. Maybe

Loose hair frustration

Dread Maintenance

i like to lightly twist my loose hair around the nearest dread with just water and pin it till it dries. It helps my loose hair noticeably. Many oare against twisting, but i dont think its too bad if your gentle and you dont use bad products. take it with a grain of salt, but it helps me. I do it about once every two months. IT really helps them from congoing at the roots as well. It may not work well if your dreads are really tangled at the roots already though..

Oh No!! A Set-Back!!

General Questions

I understand that you enjoy having nice sectioning. I am the same way. But i bet id bewilling to bet you could live without the back combing process. Its tedious and really not necessary. Plus you look pretty stupid for a while after your initial instillation. Consider sectioning your hair and just leaving it that way to dread. (sectioning and no backcombing) the sectioning will stay especially with your curly hair. It might help to keep your sections/dreads from merging and tangling where you dont want them. but honestly probably not.youll still have to separate them. Vigilant separating is the only thing i i have found to work against that. Recently i have started seperating from the scalp up every two weeks or so. In between then i just pop them as normal.

I need to get the baking soda residue out of my hair...

Dread Maintenance

I think what you saw was that with hard water its hard to wash it out.... i guss that could translate to build up... im not sure. Im pretty sure i have hard water and i used bs acv for a while and havent noticed any problems yet. surely dish soap would get out whatever is in there. I use dawn from time to time to get out the gel residue.. i think it works. lol

Neglect vs. Back-Combing... Help Me Decide!

Dreading Methods

I wouldnt worry about seperating honestly until you have some legit knotting going on too.. seperating too much too early make lead you to slow down your progress more than you think.. let those knots form.. if you need to modify a section or separate it will not be that difficult until you are months and months in.

Neglect vs. Back-Combing... Help Me Decide!

Dreading Methods

If your hair wants to dread naturally after only a day or two, i would suggest just going with that. THe backcomb can be discouraging because you lose progress before you make it. It also is a lot of work and likey to come undone. If you are worried about congoing, you could section your hair and leave it to dread naturally. or you could let your sections begin to take form, and then clean them up with a rat tail comb along the sections that your hair seems to naturally prefer. Cleaning up sections with a comb is not that hard, considering your hair will be no where near dreaded after a few weeks, which is usually when your sections begin to form. I have used just about every method, on my current set of dreads, go with the flow, try out what you like, but remember patience and time is the only thing that will actually make dreads. everything else we do i believe just helps our hair to look more like dreads short term. (back comb, gel, twists, etc...)

First wash with dr bronners

Dread Maintenance

It's awesome! Using bs and acv I forgot how great a lathering soap feel on your scalp. It also had a great peppermint scent and a tingly sensation. For 6 bucks? Win. Try it out.
