!!ARGH!!HELP!!

Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support

I Think I'll just take out the top row that i have so far and double the amount of sections. @ Barellady, thank you for the advice, but it wouldn't work for me because I have a habit of running my fingers through my hair constantly. I do it without even noticing that I am, so my hair wouldn't have achance to start to dread on its own because it would constantly be straightened by my busy-body fingers lol

!!ARGH!!HELP!!

Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support

I didn't do crochet. only TnR & I don't want my hair to look nappy for a year to do it the natural way. No offense to those that do it natural, its just not my cup o' tea :/

Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support

They feel loose, even at the roots. I used TnR & the 1st inch at the roots feels loose plus the last inch at the tips. I really didn't do it very tight, I don't think. I think I might have made the sections too big after all:( ...Heres a pic...

!!ARGH!!HELP!!

Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support

ok...so I started my dreads yesterday and I am halfway done. Only thing is...everybody else that I see with dreads looks like they have a full head of locks--you can't see their scalp. Right now I look like a crack-ho LOL there is a lot of space between my dreads and it looks terrible...I'm scared to finish them if they're going to stay this way. What I'm wondering is this: When they lock up and they kind of relax, will they look fuller? Will I still be able to see all that space in between them? I can't really go back and do more dreads than I have in that space because my hair is very fine and I've already got them pretty small, if I tried to make them smaller so that there would be more of them then they'd have to be as tiny as micro braids :/ Help!

!! TAKING THE PLUNGE !!

General Talk

I know that they won't look perfect for the 1st few months, I just meant that I prefer to have messy dreads that are recognizable dreads for the 1st few months than to have just a weird mess on my head that looks like I got in a fight with a vacuum cleaner. I've seen progression pics of people that used the neglect method and I don't want my hair to look like that. I also want to be able to control the size of my dreads & it doesn't seem possible to do that with the neglect method. I want pretty small dreads. I understand that everybody is different and that some people prefer different methods. I'm not trying to insult anybody for their preferences so please nobody get offended!! I've studied up A LOT on the different methods of dreading and I've decided that TnR is the way for me. If it doesn't work out then I'll just try something else--its all part of the journey. Thank you all for your advice :)

!! TAKING THE PLUNGE !!

General Talk

@ Journeyman, I wasn't intending to sound negative--by "plunge" I meant like a leap of faith or like when the water is freezing so you just jump right in rather than trying to work your way in slowly. I decided to jump right in LOL. A word isn't negative until someone MAKES it negative ;p And For you & Soaringeagle, I feel like, as a woman, the neglect method is not an option. Society throughout the ages has pretty much hardwired women to maintain their hair to a certain degree of beauty..therefore I'll be using the TnR method. THANK YOU EVERYBODY FOR ALL OF YOUR ADVICE!!!

!! TAKING THE PLUNGE !!

General Talk

I've decided to go ahead and dread my hair! I had planned to wait a year but this thing has caught me in its snares and I don't wanna get free of it! SOOOOO...I want EVERYBODY to give me advice--from your personal experiences--advice that I prolly won't find just by doing more net research--helpful hints and time/hair-saving tips that will enhance this journey for me. Tell me about things you wish you HAD done, things you wish you HADN'T done, and everything in between! AND WISH ME LUCK!!!

Looking For Pro Stylist In Florida

General Questions

Ok I'm wanting to dread my hair but I don't trust myself to do it to where it looks the way I want it. I'm hoping someone can please tell me where to go in Florida to get it professionally done. Preferably with the crochet method and someone that specializes in dreads. I'm only interested in legitimate businesses that run a professional salon and have lots of experience. Thanks!
