The new dreading gel

Dread Products

lol.

okay, thanks! I think I will try it. Even if it only gets half the head done, it's worth it. It will definitely speed up after that, I think. I just know I've slowed it down and you guys talk about it so much I'm anxious to try it!! :)

whichever it will get straight hair knotty so you dont need to make your dreads you can just smear it on go to bed and see it knot up

you dont need alot u can put it on every day it smells pretty nice and leaves nothing noticable on your hands even

its pretty interesting i just tried it for 1st time an hour or 2 ago

i put a blob on a finger..touched it to the hair section then ran my hand down the section to spresd it

i added 2 lil globs to each section 1 nearer the roots 1 midway down

wasnt enough to leave it lkooking gelled or anything

it doesnt stick the hair together like wax or anything

how much to use i guess is experimental still at this point since only vicki and now me have afctualy tried it she said u dont need alot so im going with a small dab for now for a few days and se i may add lil geavier application in a few days if i dont se results i expect

but its odd kinda seems like its working in just hours

i wish i had undreaded head hair to test it on i dunno if beard will be as accurate cause the individual haiers are so much thicker and corser

i think in head hair irt would work very diferently

but i cant find enough to test on i do have 2 or 3 looser babies maybe ill test on those

yea ill do that now

The new dreading gel

Dread Products

Just had a quick question as I am navigation illiterate right now, and I don't see any instructions on how exactly to use the new gel that is for sale on the site. I am looking forward to buying some this week [hopefully!] but I am wondering, if anyone can answer.... do you "make" your locs or do you put it all through your hair and see what happens?

Thanks. :)

washing my hair...

Dread Maintenance

Michael it's usually 1 tablespoon of baking soda [some people call it bicarb, in case you ever see that] to one cup of water. And the same ratio of ACV to water if you are going to use ACV. But don't use too much because it does condition your hair and it can also cause it to be a bit more oily. Mix the soda with the water, run it down your hair in the shower, and do the same with the acv/water [if you're gonna use it]. I would suggest *rinsing* with cold water, not warm/hot. Good luck. :) Oh and don't wash your hair every day. It may take a while for your scalp to adjust, you might have to go 3-4 days at a time for a couple weeks, and then longer after that. Try to get it to where you only have to wash once a week. I am in that process right now, actually.

Help! Save My Dreads

K now I am a theoretical Pagan and not much of a practical one. Lol. Any way you could help me out with how to go about it? And thank you for reminding me about the timing.

I think I will try that. I don't want to rush them but at this point the way I feel about everything else, I feel like if I don't get them going I won't want them anymore and then will regret it if I change them. If that makes any sense. I will check out the link you posted.

Thank you :)

Help! Save My Dreads

Fiiirrrsssttt of all I want to say a Happy New Year to everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season, no matter what you and yours celebrated or didn't. :P

Man have I missed coming here. I really have. I think about you all often, and every time I log in it's like there are 100 new members! Haha and That is awesome!! :)

My hair is still taking quite a while. I think it's been 5 months since I stopped combing it. I am actually feeling a bit discouraged right now. I have ONE baby dread that has done a lot of progressing, but the rest of my hair is just... bleh. I have not been able to blow dry it or anything. I have had a really stressful couple of weeks or so and I have had to let a good friend go because her husband... I don't like to say things like this but the only logical explanation I have is that he is jealous of my husband and me. And on top of that he's got some other issues. He has been causing our family a LOT of problems and even though we never really had much contact with him. A hi here and there, and that's it. Over the new year I did my own little makeshift ritual to release negativity from the "old" year and reject it from the new year. And I made a resolution to keep a cool head about everything and not worry so much. After having to let my friend go a couple of days ago I feel like I want a fresh start and I have seriously considered combing out my ONE lock and cutting my hair. But I really, really, really, do not want to do that. I have put a good amount of emotional/mental work into locking my hair up and I don't want to mess it up now. And that is why I am posting in "Help! Save My Dreads." haha. :/

Any words of encouragement or any tips would be really helpful right now, if anyone can find the time to read my post. I would really appreciate it. Blessed be! )O(

~Sara

Naturally occurring dreadlocks a concept difficult to grasp

General Talk

I live in Indiana. My MIL's best friend used to do hair for a living. She also happens to be black. And I hate, hate, HATE the stereotypes!! She tells me to put wax in my hair and that I need to twist it... I told her no, I'm good, it will lock up eventually and I am NOT putting greasy wax in my hair. :| My MIL has felt my one little dread and says it's soft, she doesn't think the rest of my hair will ever dread. I haven't had many other responses from too many people, except my mom says all the college kids where she works who have had dreadlocks had lots of problems with them [I told her my guess is they had them "done," rather than letting them happen] and she thinks it's a phase..... ugh. lol. Other than that I have had nothing but positively curious or pleasantly surprised comments about my hair and how I wash it and what else I do all natural, like my laundry detergent, my bread, etc...

I very much agree with the OP... it's not much to do about dreadlocks but dreadlocks are one of those things that people don't want to change their mindset about. They are one of those things that require more thinking and changing your way of thought and sometimes your feelings about things, and like someone said if the people you are talking to aren't at that point in their life, they will reject what you tell them and some will always try to challenge you. I also have to say I was very happy to see someone comment about the brainwashing involved in the pregnancy/birth process, infant feeding, and modern medicine! haha. Totally OT but still, <3.
