Okay man, i was just like you, hated my curly hair, and it barely dreaded until like 8 months, then all of sudden boom i had locks. But you know what, perfection isn't what makes something so great, it's the perfect uniqueness.
Just be patient.
You may not have dreads tomorrow, or the day after, but when you do, their gonna be fucking awesome!
I suggest you wait.

Dread Maintenance
Caucassian hair actually dreads just like any other hair, just give it time.
And like Soaring Eagle said, no maintence is needed expect wash and seperation.

I can't beleave my natties are aready 300 days old.
I just can't beleave the fact that i got DREADS <3
It feels amazing, and i'm really thumbing up for the natural method, go for it.
My dreadlock's have seen more life than i could've ever imagined, and their still being happy.
Okay let's cut the crap, everybody is here for the pictures:
Start:
This picture was before my dreadlocks were started (before 2.12.2012)
Next one is 1 month 
this one isthis one is only 13 days later 
next one around 2 months 
next is 3 months 
4 months 
little bit over 5 months: 
and around 6 months 
this one up here is 6 .
Down here is : 7 months 
then almost 8 months 
now a jump to my 10th month.
