Welcome to the community Mel, Please read this link: http://www.dreadlockssite.com/forum/topics/dread-wax-why-ya-dont-want-it

Happy you decide to dread, but unfortunanately wax was used, even if it is bees wax. That stops the process of hair maturing, holds in water causing mold, holds in dirt, smells, causes acne and stains bedding. You really want to get that out. WaxBGone from DreadlockShampoo.com is the best on the market for removing wax. A home remedy is with Dawn dish soap, hot water and many times of using it.

Your dreads will always feel heavy with the wax, they should sway with the gentle breeze, dance in the wind, fly around on a roller coaster.

We can help you out, just ask, in the meantime, do some reading on the Dreaducation section at the top of the site, read other members posting on what happened to them due to wax. Just use the search bar near the top left & type in the key word WAX for other members postings.

Peace
