hey there just thought id leave my 2 cents i really wanted dreads i let my hair grow for about 3 years and then thought it ws time so i went to a very reputable salon and they ended up using wax wich i did not want after that i went to another salon where they didnt use wax but the insisted on retightning and backcombing every 2 months .... well the end result ws that i had horrible looking dreads and its cost me a few thousand dollars ... i joined this site and listened to what the good people here had to say and even though im still finding it a fight to get the wax out theve never looked better just wash rip n tear no $$$
And to add... Knotty boy and DHHQ are only in it for the money. They take damaging products and remarket them for dreadlocks. The raving reviews on their sites are from people who loved their locks the first day and then learned about the problems down the line. They censor their reviews, so that all of the negative ones are notreceived. Neither company will give you a full refund, or evenapologize.
Welcome, but why ruin that beautiful hair with a kit? I mean, if you want t o back comb I get it, but you can buy a cheap flea comb from a pet store of almost nothing. Why pay for anexpensiveone and pay for shipping?
And your hair is just perfect for locking. You don't need to feel like you should use wax at all. I can't stop you from using it, but I would like to tell you that if you touch you hair with wax then it'll never lock up properly, if ever. Wax only glues your hair together. Dreadlocks form because your hair is able to move around and tangle. If you stick it together with any wax product, it'll never get he chance to move, therefore never tangle.
I am not someone who spouts that everyone should go neglect. I sure didn't, but I just want to inform you that there are 2 things you ABSOLUTELY want to stay away from. Wax being the main one, and crochet needles the second.
Bothirrevocablydamages your hair. Wax can be washed out, but only with substances that degrade fats and oils. And it takes months of session after session to get it out. It will never wash out from just normal, soap and water. Even if you have only used wax once or twice, when you finally get it out, you will see that they barely knotted at all. Wax just creates the illusion that your hair is knotted, because it hardens and sucks all the loose hairs together. This is not knotted dreadlocks.
Like I said, I can not stop you, but I will urge you to do more research and talk to people here who are recovering from wax. Please ask around before you use it. If you still, then, decide to ruin your hair, and only create fake locks, then I wish you the best.

this was my "dread kit" dreads dont come in a box they come from living outside the box they dont cost a cent they dont take a ton of work
and they arent sticky caked ijn wax and gross they are clean with nothing in them..but love
