@PeacewithDreads, you are too sweet!! No one has ever told me they have dead envy before!!
@Kaleen, I wouldn't worry too much. I just took a look at your photos, and your width looks pretty similar to mine. I think that many of my locks ended up thicker towards the bottom because of how they knotted up. Many are significantly thinner towards the top -- not in an unhealthy/breakage way, just that the ends sort of knotted upon themselves and ended up much phatter. Does that make sense? Anyway, since you have so much length to start with (jealous!) I bet you won't encounter the same problem I did. One thing I have to say is watch out for the locks that fall on either side of your head - especially the side you sleep on - because they may need a little extra palm rolling or some nice beads to make sure they don't end up flat. I have a few that are flat and suuuuper ziggy/loopy because they basically matted when I was sleeping rather than locking, making them look a bit more fat than I'd like..but, well, dreads are dreads - they do what they want!
Your dreads are awesome! After reading you have like 75 dreads I'm a little nervous. I have 37 I think and I have thick hair too. Maybe I should separate some? I don't really want huge fatties, I like the size they are now. How much thicker do they get?
Awesome dreads, elPea! Like all your pics, actually. Some amazing up styles, too.
