joined roots

my dreads are 4.5months old and i love them but at the roots it all seems like their joined together! i do separate after every wash and some are fine and go right to the roots all separated but then some (especially at the bottom on the back and round the sides a bit) seem like their all joined together at the roots. Some just have a little group of hairs going into another root and some just feel like their all joined together. I do separate after every wash but they just dont seem to be coming apart and I'm scared when my hair grows it will all just be one huge dread! (i know that won't happen but its still a scary thought) none of the roots have actually dreaded yet so when they eventually do dread will it just sort itself out?

Your locks should always be in a state of constant tangle at the roots. You only want to separate when the body of the locks start to eat each other. If it's just at the roots, it's fine
