New dreadlocks, tips on washing?

I've been checking out washing products like teatree/baking soda etc, (never tried any yet)and I mostly had a question about salt water, would it be a good idea to maybe throw in some sea salt into my baking sodacleansing, would it leave a smell? Is it even a good idea? :p

iv never noticed a scant at all
