Good idea turned bad. Now what?

I've been dreading for 7 months and have chin-length dreads. I dyed my hair pink before the backcombing and have kept it pink by bleaching and dyeing since. The maintainence was becoming a bit much (bleaching every month and a half or so), so I decided to dye back to some semblance of my natural color and just let the dreads continue to grow unprocessed. However, I had a horrible reaction to the dye the stylist used (this was yesterday) and now have scabs on my scalp, an inflamed neck, etc. I have a ton of allergies, so this shouldn't have come as a surprise. Anyway, just got back from urgent care with oral steroids and a steroid foam shampoo that I'm supposed to use twice a day and rinse out. However, being that I wash my hair once or twice a week, I'm not sure how I can use this shampoo without growing mold. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Thanks guys! I just have to use it until my condition improves- shouldn't be more than a week. And then no chemicals for me!
