Hello everyone,

I need your help.My dreads are 2 years old more or less, but I've always had a problem:on the top of my head I have never had to separate cause my dreads are so already separated at the point that my scalp is showing between one dread and another. On the back I have no problem, maybe cause of the sleep. Is there something I can do?It's not healthy for my scalp to be always showed and I think that this caused me some problem like dandruff(which I have NEVER had)..I thought that with time this problem would have fixed himself, but it hasn't..

Your help is so much appreciated,I really don't know what to do!!

In my opinion your sectioning looks too large on top. I had a rather large lock on the top of my head too that was showing a part. My dread was so tight at the bottom that I couldn't comb to split so I ripped it into 2 and after my shampoo (and ever since) the part is no longer visible. Can you try splitting it maybe?

thank you for the answer!

I don't think it's because of the section,in the top I have also other smaller dreads(I don't have a regular sectioning),but the scalp is showing around them as well..

But if it's the only thing I can try I guess it's worth it..One thing:my dreads are so mature,I don't think I can split them...Have you used a particular method to rip them?or do I have to comb them out?It would be awful :(

splitting u literaly break every hair in it dozens even hundreds of times combing outs better

how were they started and maintained

they do olook rather thick

it doesnt look unhealthy really just every hauirs locked in thedre with no loosde onesto fill in the gaps

if youd been doing any maintenence probably all u need to do is stop

if u been using the liquiid dreadlockshampoo or bs/acv switchingto the bars might be a good idea

and maybe a lil conditioning wich wikll be great fir the scalp too

Thanks SE.

I started them with twist and rip,but I haven't done ANYmaintenence since then..that's why I thought they would fix by themselves..but they didn't.so your advice is to comb them out and restart them?I cannot go neglect unfortunately because of my job,so I would redo the twist and rip method..

if you think those dreadsare indeed too thick they do look pretty thick and have a higher then normal mod risk but if u do wantto startthem iover yes comb them out though u can just try washing diferently maybe a lil light conditioning so the roots arent quite so dreaded rightto the scalp
