My wife and I go 'round and 'round about dreads. She has been sucked into the myth that dreads have to be dirty, grimy, greasy, stinky matted hair (you can add your adjective, but I think you get the get the idea). for a person to have dreads. I told her that neglect, was the best way to have dreads. She laughs at me and tells me that my hair will not dread unless the above adjectives occur, or they are done by a professional.
My wife was at a hair salon, having her hair done. When I came to pick her up, I discovered that a beautician friend of mine had started working there. My wife asked her if my hair would dread naturally, and naturally she told my wife "no". She told her the same thing that my wife was telling me. I said to my friend "you are ignorant about dreading". I felt terrible that I said that to her. She really caught me guard. I usually don't talk to people like that, so I called her back and apologized to her.
So now my wife had fire power. "see, I told you that your hair wouldn't dread by neglect. She said to me, "I'll bet you a hundred dollars that it won't dread by this time next year." I said "you're on." So I have until April 15, 2015, to produce dreads, or come up with $100.00. I think a year should be enough time for her to save up a Hun-dread dollars, don't you? LOL
