I am wanting to start my dreads but my hair is very short...

I read on here that I should wait until I have6in of hair. I am going to do it the natural way but does that mean not shampooing it also while I'm not combing? I'm confused. And if I do shampoo, how often and so I blow dry? I currently wash my hair everyday.

Yes, throw your comb in the bin. Shampoo with a dread friendly shampoo, no combing, with fingers or comb, and as it starts to knot, keep the newly forming dreads separate from each other by gently pulling them apart, it will generally start in the back because of sleeping, so keep an eye on it there. Firstly the hair will separate into what will become dreads and the knots will form in those separate locks of hair, but not until it is long enough, and that depends on hair type.
