Hello everyone, recently I ran into the problem of having some white sort of crap stuck in my dreads and its really starting to bum me out. It doesn't smell or anything, but it makes 'em look somewhat gross. Its not throughout the entire dread, kind of near the root. Would Appreciate any help.

Could be several things. Is it flaky ? powdery? sticky? Or is it little white dots attached to the ends of the hair strands? If it is the later ...it is your hair bulb. The Hair follicle is a little bulb that is under the skin. It anchors the hair to the skin. The hair follicle is where your hair actually grows from. The white bulb is where the hair was attached to the follicle. The white is where the hair stops producing melanin right before it naturally falls out.

Because we have dreads...our hair is caught into the knots. When we shed hair...it stays in the knots. Most of the shed hair still has the bulb attacked. So especially in dark hair ....the bulb looks like little white dots on and in the dread.

My dreads are covered in these. I have tried everything to get rid of them. But have accepted the fact that they are just part of my dreads.

Never used wax, and was using the dreadlock shampoo.. Its only in like 2 of em in the front and what I think I did was just grabbed em while my hands were all soaping from the shampoo. So instead of just applying it to the scalp, I messed up and got it all stuck in the dreads.

Naw, its not the hair follicles, I see those in my hair too hahaha. But I really think this is some shampoo that I just applied very excessively to the actual dread itself

it sounds like your being too careful too an d instead should just rub on alot more and get em good and clean
