First post.....and Q.

Hello all, I'm new to this site and excited about my dreads taking shape. I'm a caucasian male with naturally straight, medium length hair.

I started dreads about 6 months ago. No combing, only washing. About 1 month in I formed 3 locks out of a dog mat/congo near the back of my head. Now 5 months later I have 6 dreads well on their way to maturity.

I've read that salt water is good for the formation of dreadlocks. Will soaking my hair in salt water before washing in the shower help the rest of my hair, (particularly the front), along into dreads?

Thanks for the reply. I'm washing with Bucks County Soap residue free shampoo. I'm separating and air drying since its the summer.

seperating what if its not dreaded u should only seperate anything trying to conect existing dreads if your seperating sections that arent dreaded u maybe preventing them from dreading

Yeah, I should've specified "separating". I'm simply pulling apart the existing dreads, I'm trying to leave the rest alone and let it "do its thing".

when washing do u only wsh the scalp not the hair

are u using liquid or bar since its dreading slow the liquid might be best as well as the pink sea salt

I'm lathering and scrubing my scalp, my hair gets suds too but I mostly focus on cleaning my scalp. I bought the unscent liquid soap, I'll have to get the pink sea salt spray on my next order.

About 24" from the part in the middle of my scalp. Almost halfway down my back.

plenty long enough then

do u tie em back often or wear a hat alot

only other possible suggestion would be

put a wool sweater over your pillow
