Roots evolution..

Hello everybody!!

I ended up here searching for information about our beloved hair...my issue is about loose roots, one of the most discussed topics: I read a lot of comments on the other discussions, also in the FAQ's, I discovered that the best thing is to leave them alone and don't bother too much about them...

ok, that's fine....but: where this non-intervention lead to?

I mean, look at my roots (see the attached image), I haven't done nothing on my dreads in the last 10 months, they are about 2 inch. long, which is fine and healty (as I read several time)

but It seems that they are growing months after months without becoming dreads, so I'm asking: am I going to have half dreads and half normal hairs on my head? Is there anything I can do without damaging the dreads?

Thanks a lot!

I read again the FAQ's and I noticed that 1/2 inch. means half inch., right??so my 2 inch. are really too much!! (in the beginning I thought you meant 1 or 2 inch.!!!)

the method I used is to take the lock of hairs and create dreads by pulling apart two woven extremity of it...until the whole lock become a dread..

I don't rub them really much...actually only the tips, about once a month, but I just read that also this is not a good thing to do...

I wash them once a week, using normal solid bars of soap..I rub the skin with the fingertips and then the dreads together.

yes, I often wear them like in the picture, I'm gonna stop from now..

dont use regular soap use a dread soap only dont scrub the dreads themselves just the scalp

stop wearing them that way

1-3 inches is typical early i=on but by month 8-13 it gets to 1/2 inch

you are fine just delayed progress by using wrong soap and keeping them pulled back
