i have no idea how people are going to react to this discussion honestly....but i cut my dreads off, and these are the reasons why.1. i dont know if any of you are hair sylists, most likely. but i have been doing my hair and other peoples hair for about 8 years now, and changing my hair frequently is just a big part of who i am. and dreadlocks are definitley a permanent hairstyle (yes, i thought long and hard, over a year i was aware of the permanence. duh) i thought i could handle it.2. I didnt feel like myself. i understand its just a hairstyle, but to most people its a way of life, religious, spiritual, or whatever it means to you. (not being insulting, i understand they mean several things, and are different to everybody) but sadly when i had them, i felt different and not in a positive way. :(3. I just really missed running my fingers through my hair, and the silkyness of it. also i was having dreams about having 'regular' hair and i feel like dreams say a lot about peoples true emotions. i felt like i was lying to myself a little bit... i cant explain it. this may seem odd to you but it was bothering me a lot.I still feel like dreadlcoks are beautiful, please dont get me wrong. i would really like to try them again someday, (the proper way either natural or t&r not the backcombing and crocheting didnt love how they looked that way.)i just dont feel like its not right for me now. and im just listening to what my heart was telling me (CORNY SORRY) anyways i really hope you guys still let me be involved in this website because you all have been so friendly and i love watching everybodys hair go through the changes.comments are welcome just please dont be rude about it, it was my decision not yours. my hair, not yours, and such.thanks

Dreads aren't for everyone and sometimes it's just not the right time in someones life. You are beautiful with or without dreads and I hope you stick around. :)

aww why;d you cut them instead of conditioning (or cuz the time?)well least now you know for sure whether or not they are right for you (at least in this part of your life)and of course you're still welcome around, there are plenty of other people here without them.so,,, what you gonna do with your locks? lol

there is no shame in cutting dreadlocks, same as there is no shame in having them in the first place. dreadlocks do not define who you are - you are the defining element.just as i am happy to hear of new dreadheads, i am also happy to see people's transformations through life.

The fact that you decided to cut them, shows that you are being true to yourself, without regret of repercussions from the "dreadhead" community. Power on sista!
