I Started My Dreads Really Short. I'm Wondering How They Will Continue To Lock Up When There Are No FRee EndsS. Will They Continue To Knot Up Or Will I Have A Bunch Of Normal Hair Then Just Tiny Dreaded Pieces At The Ends? Thanks For Any Reply

If that were the case, Eagle would have 20+ feet of straight hair and 5 inches of locked hair. I'd have about 2 feet of straight hair and 5-6 inches of locked hair.

What happens is that the loose frizzy hair at your roots snags new growth and tangles it up. So the hair towards your roots isn't tangled with the hair at the tips It's tangled with hair right above and below it. Baby locks should have about 1-3 inches of straight hair at the root for this reason. That section of straight hair tangle with itself.

This is why it's so important to not try and tighten your roots yourself. If you take away those loose hairs, there is nothing for new growth to snag onto. Locks end up thinning out, and becoming weak.
