I started my dreads a week ago with tnr method. Im trying to achieve thin near sectioned dreads so I can cornrow or twist if I want to. Do I need to palm roll often our retwist often to accomplish this? Thanks for the responces in advanced.

Should I be retwisting or palm rolling?

nooooooooooooooo retwisting causes traction alopecia and balding (so will cornrowing if left in long at all)
palm rolling weakends the roots too but retwisting is wayyy worse never retwist
thatys why nearly everyone with salon dreads looks like they are going bald with all that exposed scalp between them

Just let em go. They'll love you for forever. Dreads are meant to be a bit chaotic and your scalp loves to hid underneath them in the shade when the sun comes out!
