Hello all! About 3 years ago I stopped using shampoo and started using baking soda and acv. Then about 5 months ago I started using only water to clean my hair, and I love it! I have wanted dreads for a couple years now, but the myth and expense of product has kept me from just dreaming. Monday, while in the grocery store I saw some stunning dreads. It renewed my search for getting dreads for myself!

All you have to do is quit brushing/combing your hair. You don't need any products at all to grow dreads. I do recommend you start at least using bs rinse again tho. Water doesn't clean your skin (scalp) on it's own. It will rinse oils and some dirt from your hair, but you want your scalp clean. A clean scalp is happy, and a happy scalp grows happy hair.

Thanks! I thought my scalp was doing well.. I give it avigorousscrub as I "wash", like when I was working shampoo in.
