Hello. If the strange post title didn't clue you in already, I'm new here. I suppose I'm kind of shy and unsure as to what I should say. However, I figured I should say something.
Something.
Anyhow, I have not a clue what I'm doing. I have/had a cute fro thing going on. I like the fro, but I really don't know. I feel as though I need a change. I feel as though I'm going through a mid-life crisis, however hopefully it is not the middle of my life yet. I'm trying braidlocks. I have sectioned and braided my hair. I counted about 90 of them. I had a large test last week and I spent about a week and a half studying. (I spent about 4 weeks studying total but the last week before the test I studied nonstop... almost... not really, but I studied a lot, like 8 or so hours a day.) Anyway, I had braided my hair and when I took it down, I noticed that I could barely distinguish the braids anymore. At this time, there were only about 8 of them. So I came up with the idea to braid it smaller, and just let that be that.
So I did some poking around the web. I found that a few other woman had done the same thing and posted journals. Years later their hair looked great. They looked like locks. I'm hoping my hair can look that cool. My hair is already fuzzy. I don't mind the fuzz really.
However, there is one thing that confuses me and I have been unable to find a straight answer regarding this topic. They were talking about retightening their dreads. Like every 6 weeks. Why? What happens if I fail to retighten my locks?
I watched a video of the retightening process. It reminded me a little bit of when I used to get interlocks done and the lady (who did a very good job but still) used one of those hooks on me. My hair looked great when she did it but while she did it I can't say I was in the up most of comfort. Actually, I could, but I'd be lying.
I also have another question. Having my hair down all the time annoys me. While hair is locking (I suppose it's always locking once someone has decided to let it lock lol) is it terrible that I tie it up in a poof? Would such an act cause hair tie band rings in my locks?
