My dreads are about one month old, they have good length because I let my hair grow out before I dreaded. Should I tie them back when I sleep?

Nope. When you sleep is a great time for them to get matted and lock more. You want them to be loose for this. If they are long, you can do what I do, an toss them over the edge of your bed so you don't lay on them.
But you definitely want them to hang loose as much as possible. All the time if you can.
