I don't have a ton of dread experience but if your looking to keep the rest of your hair away form the dreads instead of a ponytail you could try putting it into braids instead maybe?

oh you crochetted do not crochet no more ..to start or maintain crochets really bad for dreads
nooooo no msaintaining at all andto start them use yoir hands only twist and rip once u start the only maintenance u ever do is wash and seperate thats all
and never go to a girl to do them (i dont mean a female i mean if it was a salon or loctician) dread your own head with your own hands or ..better yet let your hair dread itself by keeping all hands out of your hair

she used crochet so u should not have trusted her..she..had dreads..for how long? a couple months?
crochets very bad for dreads
so the rest of your head do yourself
the stuff shes done will take about 6 months on average to recover and begin to dread right
meanning if you tnr today the rest of yoiur head they will be very far along before the crochetted parts loosen up enough to even begin to dread

She had them for awhile. Like two years or so. They looked great too.
