With sisterlocs you do not use any product. But I have never used any product before not even with my traditional locs. For thousands of years my ancestors did root flipping. Nothing new about it. Certain tribes did palm rolling - nothing new about that either. Other tribes added extensions and did very decorative braiding around the crest of the head - nothing new about that either. Different methods for different people work differently. I have never lived according to what a site says. I do what works for me. And so far, no breakage either time I have loc'd. I have said it in other threads - its about doing what works for you...and you finding peace with it.

No need to defend your position, I respect your choice. I'm just pointing out the information that I have found so when other people come across this thread they will know that interlocking and root-flipping are the same thing and that at least from what I read I couldn't honestly recommend it to anyone. i agree with you completely. you do what works for you and what you love.doesnt matter if they're 'traditional' dreads or if they're not... whatever.as long as there's a smile on your face and in your heart then you've done the right thing.i have learned to take what you need from advice and critisism, and and put the rest aside. people will always have their own opinions about everything... but you have found peace with y ourself in the way you've wanted, and there's nothing more beautiful than that Jaquerian McCain said:

Sister locs are...micro dreds. LOL The hair is sectioned according to pre-set patterns, then parted into lock sizes that are based on the density of the hair growth pattern, and the location on the head (i.e. usually smaller around the face). Parting for most traditional locking methods is not as detailed, and so won't produce the same results. It is a very well manicured way of wearing locs. Jack Roth said:

Oh not defending anything. Sorry if I gave that impression. Im simply saying what might not work for one will work wonderfully for another. I never take it upon myself to know everything about anything...nor something about everything. I only know what has worked for me. Thus, I make no recommendations. Spider Feet said:

Yes that is a very valuable lesson. That is how I have lived my own life...and trying to pass on to my children. It is not my place to dictate what one should or should not do. It is my place only to speak of what I have done and what lessons I have learned from doing that.May peace and love continue to follow you on your journey! sue said:
