Almost 3 weeks Neglect

Hello from frosty MN. I have a questions but, I don't want to regurgitate a topic that may have been answered several times. I did look. So if there is a post or resource you can link me to it would be most appreciated. Also, I apologize for the lengthy comment.

I have been wanting dreads for some time now. I truly think it will be the best representation of who I am. My hair is about mid-back. Originally I was going to get them done by someone so they would be ready for my trip to Vegas for EDC. As I thought about it, I decided to attempt neglect dreads as a journey of personal growth. I know there will be a long period of time of different states of my hair looking crazy. I already have accepted me for who I am and always strive to improve what I don't like. I also know there will be many people judgemental towards strictly my book cover vs. the content of my story. I think it will elevate my sense of self and acceptance of how others view me as is and how I view others. I am respectful of all ways to get dreads. For dreads in general are judged by people all the time that have little knowledge of them. From all the people I have met with dreads seem more about love and acceptance for your fellow human being. Which I love.

I am in the very early stages, not quite a month. Started using residue free shampoo. Not much going on with my hair besides the fact it is getting a mind of its own attacking my face with zeal and looking messy. Especially, when I have facial hair. It's like 2 pcs. of opposite horny velcro trying to bang constantly. Which I knew, the beginning takes time.

So, I am seeking advice on my journey of neglect and self discovery.

-Are there good shampoos I can buy locally at the store? I have a P.O. Box and apparently shampoo must be on a watchlist as a dangerous substance.

-When should I do a baking soda/apple vinegar or salt water wash? Which one?

-Just any tips in general that may help me along my path.

Thank you for taking the time and I truly appreciate you all and your help/advice.

Patience! Skip the baking soda and acv. Just wash a couple times a week and separate to keep sections apart as they form.

I wish i had a local shampoo suggestion, but i order mine online. I'm sure someone else can suggest something.😊
