My dreads are 10 years old and they are migrating to the top of my head. I am not experiencing any balding or any hair problems, but my dreads keep migrating. What can I do?
migrating meaning what? what are you doing if anything
the roots got to come from the same places i don't see how they canmigrate unless your tightening them and they were in a particular patern that's changing
a photo and better explanation might help
meaning they use to start at the front of my hairline, now my dreads are further back. Im at work and can't post a picture right now.
were you retwisting or interlocking or letting a loctician style them?
if so that's the cause and stoppings the solution
wearing them up or back tightly a lot can do it too
I was retwisting them myself, and then I stopped and let them do their thing, but believe it or not my hair just will not dread without doing some type maintenance. I usually don't wear my hair up or back because it just doesn't feel good it hurts no matter how loose I pull them back.
it definitely will dread without maintenance ..just not so tight to the scalp to cause this issue
it shouldn't hurt
post pics when your able but i am about 96.78% certain that stopping all maintenance for 6 months will show some signs of improvement, a year should fully recover ..and prove to you they will dread perfectly fine without force
this issues extremely common with these type maintenances
your hairs beautiful so i want you to make the best choices for it
without the maintenance there should be no more pain (after a few months) but wouldn't tie them back pain or no pain till fully recovered
I'm almost positive you are right because I started noticing problems when I was retwisting. When you say no maintenance do you mean just wash and rub with a towel in circular motion, and pull apart any dreads that are trying to grow together, or do you mean no manipulation at all?
no rubbing but do pull apart any that try to grow together
pulling apart dreads that are combining's the only recommended maintenance
circular rubbing if aggressive can pull 1/2 the hairs right out of the scalp
1 thing since the hairlines compromised try rubbing it ..massaging it
panterra recommends rubbing it like kneading dough or like your trying to loosen the scalp from the skull that will help rebuild the capillaries
This is what it looks like
yup exactly what i expected
it could have gotten way worse you'll recover fully
maybe take biotin till you see a significant thickening
that's absolutely caused by the mauntenance
