How does one achieve (half) dreads like these?

Hello my muse for this post 's the dude in this video

I'm interested in having hair that does and at the same time don't look like dreadlocks, where the hair seems more separated into sections rather than dreaded, nothing against locks but it's just not really what I'm after.

His hair don't seem to have all the small hairs that stick out in every direction which fully grown dreadlocks seem to have.

If anyone could guide me, step by step on how to achieve hair like this I would be so fucking grateful.

All u have to do is wash yr hair with a non residue shampoo and do nothin else really. He is 5 months into letting his hair dread up naturally and he does't have all the spikey hairs because he hasn't used a crochet hook on it. If u check out his other video's you'll see how his hair is after 4 years which is a great head of locks.

Can you tell which method he went with just by looking at his locks?

blond dudes look natural the black haied dudes look rediculously efake and waxy in the 1st vid if thats the same dudein the 2nd vid they look lil less waxy but either waxty or crochetted both methods are basddd ideas
