So I've just cleared my first month of dreading. I have chosen the natural road and I haven't used any products on my hair. Before dreading my hair is a little past my shoulders long, however, the dreads I have forming are really short. Is it normal for new dreads to be shorter as they form?

Yes, of course especially their dreading very fast. They shrink as they tighten. You will lose at least half to three quarters of the length before they mature.

How about some pictures? That would help us a lot. Must be dreading very quickly if it's shrinking already. Typically shrinkage doesn't start for a couple more months. They must be dreading like crazy
