5 Month-Baby Dreads Unraveling After Washing

Hello :)
I've been trying to resist the urge to ask questions, as I ask so many, but I want to make sure that this is normal and I'm not doing something to cause this.

Whenever I get out of the shower, even if I didn't wash the dreads, the next morning I notice that there's a lot of loose hair (mostly on the top layer) that wasn't there before. I've had these baby dreads for 5 months, and I thought that this only happens when you've had them for a few weeks. The only thing that I'm doing different is palm rolling. My dreads are beginning to knot up more and look more dread-like because of doing this, but I hope that it isn't the reason why some are unraveling.

dont palm roll it does nothing at all except cause permanent harm

it can make it temporarily look like less loose hairs but thats it

those loose hairs were always there and will be for many more months

just stop palm rolling leave em be they are fine

Thank you both! I will just stick with separating and putting in beads; no palm rolling or rubber bands ;) My friend did both of those things and has beautiful dreads, so that caused me to want to try. but I'll trust you :) What damage does palm rolling cause?
