At least that's what it seems like. I need to wash my hair at least every other day, and today I only rinsed with cool water... but whenever I get my hair wet it seems to get silky. What can I do to dry out my hair and make it tangle w/o frying it? I know natural dreads take a while, it just seems like I'm going backwards every time I clean my head, kwim?

Bar soap+hair dryer. also, there's this stuff at Walmart and its like sea salt spray. it smells good, and would dry it out. I would say spray it on your hair the days you don't wash it.

Yea, or make some. Damaged hair dreads better then healthy hair, why? Healthy hair is smooth and silky, like one continuious stand, damaged hair has "ridges'' in it, and when ridges from one strand gets caught on the ridges of another strand, it creates a knot type deal. So this process continues and that's when dreadlocks form. If you blow dry it, that will dry up your hair and makes your locks tighter.

If I don't wash every other my scalp gets oily and it drives me NUTS. I will give it another try, though, and see if it changes any. I will have to try not to touch it *at all*, also. Hard to do cuz I like to put it in a loose tie when I'm at work... heh. :D thanks.

Thanks Torie. :) I will try the hair dryer, too. I've been driving with both front windows down also. Like I said I know it takes time but I don't wanna go backwards. :) Now, if I can take a shower [weird water leak in the basement :( ]... lol.

What kind of bar soap are you suggesting? I have an olive oil soap that's lavender EO scented and has oatmeal... and then I have Fels-Naptha. lol.

I think I can find an extra t-shirt around here somewhere... :D

After you wash/wet your hair, wrap a T-shirt on your head. That sucks up the extra water. Then, air-dry.

hi there (:

Try cutting back on washing your hair slowly. I don't know if it works this way or not, but it seemed to for me...I washed everyday, then I stopped brushing.. Cut back to washing hair every 2 days, then every 3 days... Over the course of 2 months I worked up to 7 or 8 days without washing my hair. [lol i kind of lost count, i was mostly just being a lazy bum]

I know all hair types are different and this may not work for you. But it did for me, possibly worth a shot! Good luck!
