I have baby dreads and use the shampoo bars, not the liquid. I don't have any issues, and it doesn't interfere with the locking process for me at all. I am always seeing progress after every wash. I think it depends on different factors for different people.
My hair is naturally verrrry dry and frizzy, so I need the moisture that the bars provide. I don't care if it slightly slows the progress (but it doesn't seem to at all). I don't want my dreads breaking off in the future when they are mature!
Try the liquid, though. It might be better for your dreads and hair type.
