you dont gotta cause a scene just let them know that you know..
causing a scene would be handcuffing yourself to the desk refusing to leave till the media arrived and the police drag u off
but all u gotta do is quietly say " you realize i was sitting right over there while you hired that guy with dreads yet my dreads are not ok? for your sake i hope your "polocy" your refering to does not state that dreads are ok only for certain races
in fact, i would like to see this policy in writting, right now
or better yet would you have your supervisor explain to methe differences between his hair and mine?
i;'m sure u woulda not only been hired but gotten a raise on the 1st day

SE is very right. If you stand up for yourself and do not lose your professionalism in front ofdiscriminationand just calmlyaddressthe issue ,it's like playing cards, then there can only be 2 outcomes, you will not lose your pride andrightfulnessand the person might actually see what a valuable person you are for them and be happy hire you.
And people will always discriminate because of assumptions. It isn't their fault, don't get mad at them. I had an Israeli, who is my agent for some jobs that I do, come to me a couple of days ago and ask me if my dreads were real and told me that dreads are only for thick dark curly hair and that I'm not going to be able to have proper dreads. To which I just answered that what he said is not true and that in history all kinds of people of different ethnicity were having dreads, including Celtics who are completely different from his idea of a dread person. And told him that if he wants to know more about all kinds of natural dreadlocks in people of different ethnicity and textures of hairs to come check out this site Then he just understood and agreed that our dreadlocks would just look different but does not make them any less dreadlocks.
