There are 1001 factors that go into how hair locks. The obvious ones are hair type, eg., thickness, how much hair, how long it is to start, coarseness, kinkiness, etc...
But like Jdwood said, there are environmental factors, too. Humidity, how much it rains in your area, how dry it is outside, what water quality you have to wash with, etc..
And then there's how you take care of them. How often do you wash, what do you wash with, how do you dry them, do you wash in the morning or later in the day, how thick do you want your sections to be, how many locks do you want to end up with, did you go natural, TnR, back comb, are you recovering from any maintenance, etc...
The moral of the story is that no 2 people's hair will lock up the same. You can look at the timeline forums and see if someone has similar hair to yours. But if they live somewhere different, wash them slightly differently, or want more/less locks than you do, you won't be on the same timeline as them.
