Should I use TnR for my dreads?

greetings

as i have now been letting my hair dread naturally for 4 months, however only the back and some of the side seems to be dreading up. the front of my head and top of my head is pretty much the exact same, very straight and smooth.

however, i can see where the hair has kind of "Sectioned" itself out by itself, if that makes any sense... so im wondering, is it normal for the hair to take this long or shall i commence twist and rip to help facilitate dreading in the front and top of my head?

i thank ye all
