I was told by a salon school student that TnR wouldn't work on super textured hair because it's too dry. ? That when you pull the tips apart to move knots up to the root, the hair will just break. I've never heard this before and just wanted to know what you all know about it?

For twist and rip to work on African textured hair. You don't want your hair to be overly dry, because you can break the hair shaft. You also don't want your hair overly moisturized because the initial knotting won't hold all that well.If you can find the middle area between too dry and too moist for your hair, twist and rip will hold.
