Oils and Butters

I know coconut oil and olive oil is not good to use as they are conditioning and leave a buildup. Are there any that are ok? Like avocado or apricot? What about shea butter? I have access to a locally produced all natural vegan shampoo with shea butter, rosemary, tea tree, and lavender. Thoughts?

shae is very conditioning as well..essential oils do not condition and are used in very tiny amounts for medicinal reasons

Hmmm...I have to come up with an alternative. What is the verdict on Dr. Bronner's pure castille plus essential oils? I'm running out of options.

its fine in naturally rather soft water (softened waters not the same as soft water)

in hard water bronners can be as bad as wax, leaving lots of sticky or oily buildup

Will it make a difference if I use purified or distilled water?

absolutely

then its fine

we even had people living off grid who built solar water distillers to destill their water for hair washing

bronners is probably the most biodegradable soap there is..however.. for camping purposes, you should still carry a bucket 300 feet (or more depending on slope of terrain towards the water) away from any water sources, bronners biodegrades very quickly in dirt...but can take like a year in water.

Right on. Then I have a backup should my order not arrive before I leave for more extensive travel in a week. (Not Vicki's fault...I should have allowed more time for it to get here, especially during the holiday season.)
