When will my dreads actually look like dread?

So I just started my dreads like a few says ago But I swear when I first stared they lok better than they do now! they are getting looser I swear! How do long till they will begin to look less crappy?

this is the backcombers backfire

when you dread naturaly the "crappy" stage is exciting you love every lil messy knotty loose hair cause its all progress

when you backcomb you pannic and freak out cause they arent perfect dreads in a day

dreads take time..months to start looking good a year or more to mature

just acceopt it they will have loose hairs looswe roots kinks loops craziness you cant force them to dread you got to alow them to

lol i've been wondering the same thing but i'm at 18 months. most people say a year but i guess mine might be two years. have patience. that's why its called a journey:)
